The Best Safety Razor Blades

Which safety razor blades are best is a matter of opinion. I’ve added my thoughts below:

Merkur

These Platinum coated stainless steel blades from Germany are regarded as the sharpest on the market. I find them too sharp, yes you can have too aggressive a blade.  The  Barber’s  in our  shop however will not use any other blade. I usually find a Merkur blade will last for a full seven days.

Personna

Platinum coated chrome double edge razor blades from the American Safety Razor Co using Swedish stainless steel and made in Israel. My personal favourite and easily the most value with each blade lasting for about five great shaves.

Derby

Derby safety razor blades are manufactured from Swedish stainless steel in Turkey. An excellent value razor blade that should last for about five shaves, but occasionally disappoints. Until recently we were able to purchase these from Derby’s UK representative, but unfortunately we now have to purchase them directly from Turkey and are unwilling to pursue this particular brand further.

Wilkinson Sword

The established name in razor blade manufacture since 1898 when they produced the Pall Mall safety razor. The company had already been established for 100 years manufacturing swords. today’s razor blades are manufactured in Germany and are of the highest quality, lasting for seven days.
